Spiced black cherries, dried herbs, incense, chocolate, and some obvious minerality all emerge from the 2019 Le Carré, a rich, full-bodied, brilliantly textured, and voluptuous effort. It's already drinking great today yet will certainly keep for another 15-20 years. It's one of the most opulent and sexy in the Maltus lineup.

The 2019 Le Carré is rich and dramatic, bursting with aromas of jammy blackberries and cherries mingled with milk chocolate, exotic spices and new oak. Full-bodied, broad and fleshy, with a ripe, liqueured core of fruit, polished tannins and a long, heady finish, this is an unabashedly pedal-to-the-metal style of Saint-Émilion that harks back to the style so in vogue in the early 2000s in profile.
The 2019 Le Carré has retained its opulent and quite showy nose from barrel, but its success here is in maintaining delineation and freshness. Light floral scents emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and poised, delivering fine-grained tannins and a touch of white pepper and clove toward the finish. Very fine.
