Score 94/100 · Drink 2016-2036, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Jun 2010

The 2006 Ines Vizcarra spent 15 months in 500-liter French oak. It offers up a superb aromatic array, of pain grille, pencil lead, espresso, incense, black cherry, and blackberry. Packed and stacked, this dense, masculine wine demands 8-10 years of additional bottle age. There are tons of extract and a boatload of tannin, but it has the balance to age gracefully in the manner of a top-flight Bordeaux. Its prime drinking window will extend from 2016 to 2036. (aged in 100% new 500-liter French barrels) Inky purple. Expansive, highly seductive aromas of black and blue fruits, Asian spices, potpourri and vanilla. Deeply concentrated cassis and blueberry flavors are enlivened by juicy acidity and firmed by dusty tannins, which quickly melt into the fruit. Becomes spicier with air and finishes with excellent clarity and a strong echo of sweet dark fruit compote qualities. Emphatically modern in style and delicious right now.
