Big and bold and lacking finesse. Some bitterness on the end. Hard work. (JR)

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes comes from vines between 50- and 91-years-old, and is also matured in 30% new oak à la village cru. It has a concentrated bouquet with those same blackcurrant and blueberry scents, but with a touch more delineation. The palate is fresh and vibrant, the tannins a little more "solid" than the village cru, hence more structure and firmness towards the dense finish. Afford this serious Chambolle-Musigny 5-6 years in bottle.
