The 2018 Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru has a slightly muted/reduced bouquet that demands coaxing from the glass. Eventually, it reveals apple blossom and a very light flinty scent. On the entry, the palate is well balanced with orange zest and a touch of mango. However, it never builds into a Meursault with real pedigree and feels a little monotone on the finish. I wonder where this will go? Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

With the 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots, Jobard's portfolio takes a step up in density and concentration. Wafting from the glass with notes of crisp Anjou pear, fresh bread, toasted almonds and white flowers, it's medium to full-bodied, bright and layered, with tangy acids, chalky extract and an elegant, fine-boned profile.
The 2018 Meursault Poruzots 1er Cru comes courtesy of 0.79 hectares of vine planted between 1972 and 1994. It is well defined on the nose, offering scents of hazelnut and grilled walnut, hints of orange blossom and a very faint menthol notes. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a judicious tang of ginger that lends tension, and impressive depth toward the finish, which lingers in the mouth. Superb.
