Tasting notes
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with dark berry fruit, Earl Grey and crushed stone, displaying impressive complexity for the vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite bold with firm backbone, though I am missing the precision and Pinoté that might have warranted a higher score. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Mid crimson. Ripe yet fresh cherry fruit. Tight, sinewy and elegantly dry. Not trying too hard to please now but lovely harmony and refinement. (JH)
Cask sample. Deep crimson. Quite heady and rich without quite the lift and refreshment of the Brûlées. Obviously very ripe fruit with lots going on underneath. (JR)
