Very pale crimson with a light nose and sweet palate entry. Fine tannins . Amazingly fresh fruit for a 15% wine! (JR)

The 2015 Barolo Brunate is decidedly not a shy wine. It opens to dark color saturation and varietal aromas that are dark and thick in character. That characteristic power and determination of the Brunate cru is played forward with perfect pitch. This wine shows compact and firm structure, like tight bricks layered one on top of the other, to form the density and richness that makes such a lasting impact on the palate. Some 3,700 bottles were created.

La Morra. Tasted blind. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Quite herbal and backward on the nose and not a lot of fruit, at least not at this moment. A little broad on the palate and then loads of stalky tannins. Already starting to develop and lacks a little in tension and liveliness to guarantee long ageing. (WS)

The 2015 Barolo Brunate is another enticing wine in this range. Black cherry, spice, leather and licorice all flesh out in the glass. The breadth and textural resonance that are such signatures of Brunate emerge effortlessly. I would give the 2015 a few years in bottle to come together. Even in the early going, the 2015 exudes class. The Brunate is the darkest and most powerful wine in this range.
