The 2016 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru comes from 70-year old vines and this year there is just one 220-litre two-year old barrel. It has a strict and linear bouquet, just lacking the personality of say, the Blanchots or the Les Preuses. The palate is very well balanced and the oak influence is perhaps a little too pronounced at the moment, therefore afford this five years in bottle for this Valmur to fully subsume the wood.

The 2016 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur offers up notes of fresh peach, green apple, oatmeal and wet rocks. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and dense, with a blocky, concentrated profile. It's a serious Valmur for the vintage, though it doesn't display the length of a great year.
