Tasting notes
Quite a lot of toasty oak on the nose, with plummy fruit underneath – this is dark-fruited for Pinot Noir, with full body and quite warm alcohol too. Impressive fruit concentration, but with forceful structure and a leafy bitterness on the end that leaves this quite hard-edged. (RH)

Pale ruby. Intensely scented rose and ripe cranberry fruit. Marked toasty oak. Plush, ripe cranberry and strawberry palate fruit, with a stem-herb note. Bright not brisk acidity, and some tannic chew. Warm and a bit heavy. (TJ)
Just lacking a bit of richness and depth, the 2016 Te Muna Road Vineyard Pinot Noir remains an immensely seductive and enjoyable wine. Earth and beetroot notes accent black cherry fruit in this medium to full-bodied Pinot. Silky and long on the finish. it should drink well through at least 2022.
The 2016 Te Muna Pinot Noir offers ripe red cherry, crushed strawberry and hints of blue fruit on the nose, and the oak is neatly integrated. The palate is well balanced with a grippy entry, quite solid in the mouth, and rather missing some grace and detail on the blocky finish. It needs more finesse and tension.
