Confected red fruit. Too much candy, not enough freshness. The fruit goes sour on the finish. (RH)

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village is a blend of Aux Réas (the largest part), La Croix Blanche, Les Jacquines, Les Chalandins, Les Batteaux and Aux Communes, blended with 30% whole bunches. I tasted the component parts and then the final blend. It has pleasant red currant and cranberry fruit on the nose, plus just a touch of sous-bois . The palate is nicely structured with supple tannins, maybe just missing a little complexity but with a gentle grip on the spicy finish. Fine.
