Tasting notes
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St-Jacques 1er Cru is slightly extracted on the nose, offering raspberry and wild strawberry aromas, quite confit in style. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins and fine grip. Quite spicy and modern in style, and perhaps missing the charm of its peers. Give it three to four years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Creamy, rich dark-red fruit. Firm, sweetly spiced and very smooth on the palate. Rather gentle but with underlying concentration and excellent freshness on the finish. (JH)
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St Jacques wafts from the glass with a complex bouquet of cassis, cherries, licorice, rose petal, wood smoke and spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered with a textural attack, excellent concentration, rich structural tannins and a long, fragrant finish. It's another high point in the range.
