Tasting notes
(27% each of garnacha and cabernet sauvignon, 26% tempranillo and 10% each of carinena and merlot): Saturated ruby. Intensely aromatic bouquet offers vibrant, mineral-accented red- and blackcurrant and cherry, plus a suave floral quality. Bitter cherry and licorice flavors display impressive depth and palate-staining sweetness. Bright minerality lifts the broad, impressively long finish, which clings with excellent tenacity.

Costers Del Siurana’s 2008 Miserere is a blend of 5 grape varieties including 27% Garnacha and 10% Carinena. It was aged for 12 months in French oak and bottled without filtration. The expressive nose of mineral and black fruit jumps from the glass while displaying some elegance on the palate. This savory effort is in need of a bit more depth and concentration. Give it another 1-2 years of cellaring to fill out and drink it through 2020. Importer: Jorge Ordonez, Fine Estates From Spain, Dedham, MA; tel. (781) 461-5767
