Alvina Pernot’s Meursault La Pièce sous le Bois really is a fantastic wine in 2018. Light gold in colour with beautifully fleshy, ripe citrus fruit, toasted hazelnut and almonds aromas. The palate has a wonderful, vibrant lift. Vervain, lime and flint are present, as are butter, honey and citrus. It’s rich and plump, but not cloying, with great tautness on the palate. Highly recommended.

The 2018 Meursault 1er Cru La Pièce sous le Bois opens in the glass with notes of green apple, fresh hazelnuts, white flowers and a subtle touch of reduction. Medium to full-bodied, supple and textural, its charming core of fruit is underpinned by a bright spine of acidity, concluding with a precise, chalky finish.
