The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Casasilia is a bold, luscious wine. Dark cherry, leather, lavender, spice and espresso bring out darker shades of Sangiovese character. The Casasilia is a decidedly lush, supple Riserva that will drink well right out of the gate.

Barberino Tavarnelle. 100% Sangiovese. Mid ruby. Minerally, peppery cherry nose. Plenty of dark cherry fruit and polished tannins. Well balanced and hugely accessible, but should be more complex for this allegedly highest-quality category. (WS)
