Score 92/100 · Drink 1992-2002, Robert Parker, Oct 1992

The Charmes-Chambertin-Vieilles Vignes is highly sought after by knowledgeable Burgundy connoisseurs. Only 50 cases make the voyage to America. Made from a vineyard planted in 1921, the 1990 boasts a much deeper color than most Truchot wines. A super nose of jammy black-raspberries, flowers, and sweet oak is followed by a wine with great richness, profound intensity and opulence, and a stunningly long, chewy finish. Despite its concentration and ampleness, the overall impression is one of elegance and precocious fruitiness and headiness. It should drink well for at least a decade. Truchot Martin's 1990s are the best wines he has made. Moreover, they are fairly priced. All are seductive, sexy, sweet, round, fragrant wines that beg to be drunk now. However, I am sure they will last, especially in the case of the two grands crus, for 8-10 years. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA.
