Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes has way too much botrytis on the nose, rich and opulent but missing terroir expression. The palate has a sour lemon entry, modest weight in the mouth with an attenuated finish. This is not showing as well as the bottle last year so I would be prudent in terms of its evolution. Tasted May 2016.

Bottled. Good grip and raciness. Very much new Meursault style. Almost painful acidity! But good constitution and structure. Not much Charmes expansion in evidence yet. (JR)
