Tasting notes
A 60-40 blend of Grenache and Syrah matured partly in large oak, the 2016 Vinsobres Altitude 420 was showing a bit more suppleness and complexity than a sample of the domaine's Reference cuvée. Toasted almond and fennel seeds join red berries and cherries on the nose, followed by a full-bodied palate that's creamy, supple, long, plush and layered. It should drink well on release and through 2025.

Based on 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah from more sandy soils at an altitude of 420 meters above sea-level, the 2016 Vinsobres Altitude 420 is silky and elegant, with a medium-bodied, nuanced and pretty profile. Revealing lots of red fruits, floral notes, spice, and underbrush, it has impressive balance and should be approachable right on release.
