Pale yellow. Sexy passion fruit and mango aromas show good lift. Offers similar flavors in the mouth but not at all fat or sloppy--in fact, this is a more linear style than I would have expected from the nose, with a touch of salinity. No easy sweetness here but nothing hard either. Not hugely concentrated but finishes with graceful persistence and a touch of spicy oak (25% new). As with all of his négociant wines except for the Saint-Romain La Périère and Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie, where he buys grapes, this Montagny was made from purchased must.
