There is one 350-liter barrel of the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Perrières this year, from Bernard Dugat’s 65-year-old vines. It has a very pure and inviting bouquet with cassis and raspberry scents succinctly entwined with the new oak. The palate has a confit-like entry, very good depth, supple in the mouth with a candied finish. Lovely.

One 350-litre cask, like Corbeaux and Fonteny, now bottled separately (used to go into Petite Chapelle blend). Under Mazis. 60% whole bunch, 100% new oak. Very heady and complex. Solid and almost treacly. Such matière yet finesse on the finish. Liquorice and loveliness. Even a little salty. Lush and flattering but very far from simple. Amazing finish. (JR)
