(4.5 grams per liter acidity): Bright yellow-green. Pure but subdued scents of yellow peach, nectarine, green apple, lime, mint and powdered stone. Quite tight and powerful but youthfully imploded today, showing superb texture and cut to its penetrating flavors of stone fruits and spices. This sappy, energetic, palate-staining wine finishes with outstanding echoing length and energy. One of the one and a half barrels of this wine was new but the wood element is not obvious in the finished wine.

The 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Demoiselles has a tightly wound, granitic bouquet that feels a little tight-lipped at the moment, though it displays fine precision and I feel will ultimately turn out to be quite elegant. The palate is crisp and fresh with lime and green apple, with just a hint of white peach building in the glass and gently fanning out on its composed and satisfying finish. This is a superb Puligny from Philippe Colin. Recommended.

(just a single new barrel of this juice): Nectarine and apricot aromas are complicated by nut oils and spicy oak. Densely packed and powerful but with a light touch. A mineral firmness gives lift to the stone fruit and spice flavors. Very tight today and holding a lot of CO2. Primary and long, finishing with a note of licorice. This wine will need more élevage , as well as time in bottle, to absorb its oak. Like most of the crus here, this wine will be bottled between December and February, following three or four months in cuve .
