Kutch's 2016 Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard is a powerful, almost virile wine in this vintage. Dried herbs, tobacco, earth, game and incense give the Falstaff a decidedly masculine, brooding personality. The 2016 is more about intensity than finesse. I imagine a certain rusticity will always linger here. All the elements have not fully come together just yet.

Bright ruby colour. Smells a bit like damp sacking – not unappetisingly so! Interesting character.... Much the sweetest of the four Kutch Sonoma Coast 2016s with very fine, powdery tannins but a slightly drying finish. Still quite embryonic. Not especially persistent. Wet stones on the finish, (JR)
