The 2015 Chablis 1Er Cru Les Fourneaux Vieilles Vignes comes from 70-year-old vines and sees 15% matured in wooden barrels, the rest in stainless steel. It was missing some complexity on the nose, making do with attractive white peach and orange zest aromas, though there is little mineralité here. The palate is balanced, rounded and quite opulent, the acidity reining everything back in, and there is a nice apricot confit note on the finish. Enjoyable, if not an intellectual Chablis.
