Drinking at its peak, the 2016 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc offers mature aromatics of ripe citrus, honeyed orange, spice, and hints of brioche and almond. Medium-bodied and balanced, it has integrated acidity and a great finish. It’s a gorgeous example of aged Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc that's singing right now. Drink 2025-2030. Run by Nicolas Boiron and his wife Jeanne-Claire, with their daughters Eva and Anna now taking a larger and larger role, Bosquet des Papes continues to produce a range of styles across their roughly 32 hectares. The classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape (75% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre) is old-school and traditional, while they also produce three special cuvées: Les 7 de Pignan (from seven parcels in the sandy soils of Pignan), A La Gloire de Mon Grand-Père (100% Grenache from clay soils in Gardiole), and Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes (85% Grenache from 100-year-old vines, not destemmed). These are rich, powerful, character-filled wines that have gained considerable elegance and purity over the past decade or more. They are incredibly Provençal, satisfying wines that deserve a place in any Southern Rhône lover's cellar.

Transparent gold. Intense citrus and tropical fruit scents are complemented by smoky mineral and honeysuckle nuances. Taut, focused and energetic on the palate, offering vibrant lemon pith and bitter pear skin flavors that slowly deepen and open up on the back half. Finishes with solid, minerally cut, a touch of fennel and impressive, floral-driven persistence.

Partially fermented and matured in demi-muids, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc shows some herbal notes reminiscent of dill or fennel fronds on the nose, followed by hints of citrus and pear on the medium-bodied palate. This blend of fine varieties broadens out a bit on the finish but remains zesty, briny and fresh enough to drink well for the next few years.
