Score 90/100 · Drink 2016-2026, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2015

The 2013 Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes contains between 40% and 50% whole cluster this year, raised in 40% new oak. There is a keen floral scent to this Chambolle – wilted violet and rose petals, hints of vanilla pod coming through aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin: dark berry fruit laced with cold black tea, quite structured on the mid-palate with a masculine finish that will require three or four years to fully soften. Good potential.

Light, rather mossy nose. And then fresh, pure fruit. Light to medium weight and just a bit stewed on the end. Not one of this producer’s best 2013s. (JR)
