The 2018 Haura was so backward when I uncorked the bottle that I left it to one side for an hour. Eventually it offers tightly knit blackberry and bilberry scents, plus pitted black olives coupled with a discreet sea spray scent. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a lovely bead of acidity, elegant and poised. Quite sustained on the finish, this is a succinctly crafted Graves that will give a lot of pleasure over the next 15–18 years.

The 2018 Haura is a bold, punchy Graves. Iron, cedar, dried herbs and leather give the 2018 a good deal of savory nuance to play off a core of plush red-toned fruit. Deep, expressive and so nuanced, Haura delivers the goods. Best of all, this flavorful, mouth-filling red is a superb value.

Gravelly property of the late Denis Dubourdieu. 63% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 12 months in oak after fermentation in tank. Smudgy garnet colour. Slightly underripe leafiness on the nose. But sweet juicy fruit on the palate and then quite inky acidity on the finish. Rather dry finish. Almost as good as Ch Reynon but not quite. (JR)

The 2018 Haura is a plump, fruity Graves from the Dubourdieu family. Sweet red fruit, cedar, spice, licorice and tobacco add nuance to an open-knit, tasty, affordable Graves that punches above its weight.
