Score 89/100 · Drink 2017-2022, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2017

The 2015 Langhe Chardonnay Piodilei is slowly coming into its own, although it needed a few more months of bottle time when I tasted it. Fruit comes from Treiso in large part with some from Serralunga d'Alba. The wine is fermented in oak and it ages on the lees until June following the harvest. It undergoes partial malolactic fermentation, and for this reason it never shows outright butteriness or creaminess. The bouquet releases opulent tones of apricot and tangerine skin with toasted almond on the close. This wine will be released in September.
