Tasting notes
Lees ageing 8.5 years. Pressure: 5.5 bars. Disgorged 18 December 2015. Dosage 4.5 g/l. Tasted blind from magnum . Bright golden. Floral, lilies? Not quite as focused as the others. And a bit astringent on the end. Highly distinctive! Rather a short, messy finish. (JR)

The 2006 Brut Millésime de Collection Vieilles Vignes de Chardonnay (Magnum) is powerful, masculine and also a touch austere, but offers tremendous thrust and overall intensity. This is an especially large-scaled, creamy old-vine Champagne from Gimonnet. From magnum it should drink well for another decade or so. The Vieilles Vignes de Chardonnay emerges from parcels in Cramant and Chouilly (both Grand Cru villages) and Cuis, a 1er Cru village. Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: January 2016.
