Score 93/100 · Drink 2023-2030, Josh Raynolds, Oct 2019
Opaque bright-rimmed ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, cherry liqueur, smoky minerals and candied violet. Sappy, sharply focused blackberry, bitter cherry and lavender flavors show very good depth and take a sweeter turn with air. Fine-grained tannins add grip to an impressively long, mineral-driven finish that shows sharp delineation and resonating florality.

Aromas of cherries, pungent soil, grilled meats and cassis introduce the 2017 Morgon Vieilles Vignes, a medium to full-bodied, chewy wine with good stuffing and structure that will need a year or two in the cellar to round out.
