(this parcel just above Clos des Perrières was never classified as Perrières premier cru as it used to be a quarry; although the soil is of similar quality, Château de Meursault is allowed to produce up to 60 hectoliters per hectare): Pungent aromas of citrus peel and flowers. Penetrating and sharply focused but not austere owing to the sweetness of the wine's ripe citrus fruits and to rich buffering extract. Finishes wonderfully rich, long and firm. This goes way beyond its humble appellation (and was indeed presented after the Meursault Les Grands Charrons) but then so does its price.

The 2014 Bougogne Terroir d'Exception has been made since 2007 and comes from less than a hectare of vines planted in an old quarry, which is actually located in Meursault Perrières. Since it was a quarry, it was consequently never classified. The vines were planted in 1977. Indeed, it does have a very Perrières bouquet with gravel and flinty scents, austere and reserved but very well defined, with touches of apricot blossom and white peach developing bashfully in the glass. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, a slight touch of Japanese yuzu and peach skin, leading to a very refined finish. This is excellent.
Pale yellow. Lemon and stone on the nose. Tactile, saline and energetic, conveying a strong impression of minerality. This precise, stony wine boasts outstanding length for its modest appellation. In fact, noted cellarmaster Emmanuel Escutenaire, these vines, planted in 1977, are situated next to the Clos de Perrières of Grivault but "didn't get the appellation because the land had never been planted before." The yield here is larger than Perrières but not by much, he added.
