Score 91/100 · Drink 2018-2031, Mark Squires, Oct 2018
The 2012 Xinomavro Naoussea was a little stern and astringent when it first was shipped over, so I thought this might be worth a checkup after an extra six months or so in bottle. This tightly wound red has come together perfectly. The tannins have moderated, the fruit is lovely and this has impressive precision. In this 2012 vintage, moreover, a lot of wines seemed fat and ripe without showing as much of their typical acidity. This has beautiful ripe fruit, but it also seems fresh and balanced. It's nicely done for a great price. It should hold for another decade or so.
