Tasting notes
Aromas of lemon, fresh bread, crisp green apple, fresh mirabelle and wet stones introduce Laurent-Perrier's 2007 Brut Millésimé, a medium-bodied wine that's stricter and leaner than the 2008 tasted alongside, with a tensile, chalky profile. While it remains youthful and vibrant, it's drinking well today.

Magnum. 2007 is their current vintage. 50:50 Chardonnay:Pinot Noir. Picked end of August, very ripe but with good acid. Michel Fauconnet seeks vintage character too. Disgorged February 2017. Dosage 8 g/l. Greenish lemon colour. Very tight knit and introvert on the nose – this does remind me of Grand Siècle! Lime structure and tense but tastes a little sweeter than 8 g/l. Perhaps that’s the year. Chalky finish. Fan of flavour on the end. Very easy to drink already but with the potential to age. Quite flirtatious. (JR)
50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir. Very pale. Toasty nose. Dramatically structured, like a marble colonnade – more so than the Ultra Brut, interestingly, but with more palate weight. Sweet Meyer lemons and sour-dough toast. Tiny bubbles. Opens up in the glass but doesn't lose that vigorous spine of acidity all the way to the very end. (TC)
Smells unusually sweet and creamy. Tastes a bit sweet too – lemon sherbet sensation. Firm palate impression. (JR)
