Tasting notes
Opening with oaky expressions on the nose, the 2017 Reserve Chardonnay offers a slight herbal stemminess in the glass and a rich core of apples, pears and pineapple with floral aromas of citrus blossoms and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, it has a balanced structure and an elegant white spice that lifts the mid-palate with flavors of soft caramel tones and spiced apples. Concluding with a long and complex finish, the 840-case production shows excellent value.

The 2017 Reserve Chardonnay, which saw around 25% new oak for 10 months with no bâtonnage and partial malolactic (around 30-40%), has a very poised, focused bouquet with a fine mineral undercurrent. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, very focused and full of tension, delivering the right amount of salinity on an Old World-influenced finish. Superb.
