Tasting notes
In another tricky vintage, the team at Cloudy Bay has turned out one of their best recent efforts. The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc boasts notes of gooseberries and pineapple up front, and shows lovely harmony and roundness on the palate. It's medium-bodied and easy to drink, with hints of nectarine and pink grapefruit joining in on the creamy-textured palate and long, silky finish.

TA 7.9 g/l, pH 3.26, RS 2.5 g/l. Pale lemon-green. Nutty-spicy, boxwood tones, with some reduction. Lime and gooseberry. Layered nose. On the palate, crisp, lime and grapefruit acidity, some grass touches and a touch of cream. Delicate phenolics, with fair length, but missing a little in the mid palate. Elegant though. (TJ)
RS 2.5 g/l. Super-clean, sappy green fruit with herby punch on the palate. Good, textural, satisfying. Ample concentration, but it’s hardly worth the premium. (RH)
