Score 95/100 · Drink 2018-2025, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2018

The one red that is different, the 2015 Volare del Camino is the second vintage of this pure Malbec from a young vineyard planted on granite and limestone soils at 1,400 to 1,500 meters in altitude that yielded 400 grams of grapes per plant. This has fine tannins and usually has some more ripeness than the other reds. The vinification was simple, as the destemmed grapes fermented in 300-kilo bins with indigenous yeasts and then spent 16 months in used French oak barrels. The tannins are slightly grainier and not as elegant as the 2016, and the oak is a little more evident and with a subtle difference in ripeness. This is still an amazing Malbec that only suffers in comparison with its siblings. 1,200 bottles were filled in September 2016.
