Score 88-90/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jun 2018

Tasted from barrel, the 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Ancegnières exhibits notes of citrus fruit that mingle with aromas of beeswax, petrol and toasted nuts. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with good concentration, cut and grip, revealing more depth and dimension than any of Pierre-Yves Colin's Saint-Aubins this year.

(Colin has just a single one-year-old 350-liter barrel of this juice, versus a normal seven): Pale yellow. Subdued nose hints at spices, herbs and white pepper. Then surprisingly pliant on the palate, conveying a touch of sweetness to its lemon drop fruit. A distinctly gentle wine with good flesh. Colin noted that this wine, as well as the Abbaye de Morgeot, may have finished with as much as 2.5 grams per liter residual sugar.
