Tasting notes
Good medium red. Sexy aromas of raspberry, black cherry, currant, smoked meat and earth. Offers good vinosity but the wine's chocolate and herbal elements convey an impression of irregular ripeness. There's decent material here but the wine is a bit tart and lacking in flesh, sweetness and depth. Slightly medicinal on the back end. An awkward showing today.

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from three parcels. It has a finely wound and quite tertiary bouquet. The palate is well balanced and the 30% whole bunch is neatly integrated with cranberry leaf and raspberry and a crisp, slightly truncated but fresh finish. It is probably best for early drinking and before the superior En Rue La Vergy.
A blend of three parcels from the top, middle and bottom of the village. Very winning, fruity nose. All red glacé cherries and easy and fun. Accessible. (JR)
