Bright violet. Spice-accented dark berry and cherry scents, backed by a smoky nuance. Lively blackberry and bitter cherry flavors show good depth and a peppery note on the back half. Finishes bright and spicy, with good length and gentle, even tannins lending shape.

The 2016 IGP Collines Rhodaniennes L’Aube Syrah was aged mainly in stainless, with 15% to 20% going into old barriques. There are some baking spices present on the nose but also more fragrant notes of juniper, plum and black cherry. This medium to full-bodied Syrah is supple enough to drink now and should continue to drink well for 5-6 years.
