Here's a tight and streamlined Brunello that is ready to drink out of the gate. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is redolent with sweet fruit aromas of red cherry and dried raspberry that are characteristic of this vintage. That bright core is surrounded by light tones of spice, cola and tobacco. The wine is very drinkable and enjoyable, but it does lack the intensity and nuance of a cooler growing season. The results are pleasing and forthcoming.

Full, almost rich yet precise raspberry fruit contained by grainy tannins and lovely freshness. Already approachable, but will gain in complexity. Complete and delicious. (WS)
