Tasting notes
This is deeply colored and perfectly ripe, offering up plenty of sweet cassis and redcurrants with black cherries and gentle leafy nuances. There are also hints of dark roasting herbs, which is an unmistakable statement of intense cabernet sauvignon. The palate has dark plums and black-cherry flavors with fine tannins on the edge that are wrapped around a powerful and dense core of brooding, long-form cabernet fruit. This is majestic, masterful and will be at its best beyond 2020. A tribute to Dominique Portet\'s father who worked as régisseur of none other than Bordeaux first-growth Chateau Lafite Rothschild for 20 years between 1955 and 1975. The blend comes about from Dominique\'s time as winemaker with Taltarni in the Pyrenees. It is 60% Yarra Valley and 40% Pyrenees. From a parcel of the oldest vines from which he made his first 1972 Taltarni cabernet.
