Tasting notes
The 2015 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is very nearly as good as Chardonnay gets, featuring dramatic notes of fresh ginger, apple blossom, lime leaves and yuzu with an alluring core of pink grapefruit and underripe pineapple plus nuances of brioche, marzipan, honeycomb and struck flint. Full-bodied, the palate is charged with amazing energy, delivering electric citrus, exotic fruits and mineral notes with complementary savory layers and a compelling line of freshness, finishing very long. Once the tertiary flavors kick on this incredible beauty, it could well warrant an even higher score.

The 2015 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is deep, powerful and quite expressive, with a distinctive stony character that marks the mid-palate. Orchard fruit and floral notes appear later, but the Trenton Roadhouse is defined by its center of minerality and savory notes that dominate over the more obvious expression of fruit that is found in some of the other wines.
The 2015 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is supple, open-knit and giving, all of which will make it easy to enjoy young. A silky, creamy and finely-knit wine with plenty of lemon confit, white flowers and orchard fruit. Today, it comes across as a bit one-dimensional next to the other wines in the lineup.
About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
