The 2017 Dame de Boüard is a very pretty, tasty red to drink now and over the next handful of years. Small red berry, spice, dried herb and floral accents give this airy Merlot quite a bit of sheer appeal. In 2017, the Dame is especially perfumed in style.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 La Dame de Bouärd leaps from the glass with fragrant raspberry pie, crushed plums and boysenberries scents plus hints of cinnamon stick, rosehip tea and wild thyme. Medium-bodied, soft and juicy in the mouth, it has a wonderfully fragrant finish.
The 2017 Dame de Boüard has plenty of red fruit on the nose, a little animally compared to others, hints of dried blood and animal fur underneath that fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins rendering this a velvety smooth Montagne Saint-Émilion with touches of orange rind and allspice towards the finish. Give it three years in bottle.
The second wine of Chateau Clos de Bouard and mostly Merlot, the 2017 Dame De Bouard offers a juicy, pretty, medium-bodied style as well as attractive cherry and strawberry fruits intermixed with notes of flowers, sappy herbs, and underbrush. It’s a beautifully balanced, high-quality second wine to drink over the coming 7-8 years.
