The 2017 Cantegril is a very pretty wine. Lemon confit, dried flowers, mint and light tropical accents give this airy, gracious Barsac its distinctive personality. The 2017 has come together quite well since I tasted it from barrel. It is an elegant, understated wine of real character and personality to enjoy over the next decade or so.

The 2017 Chantegril gives up honeyed pears, warm peaches and candle wax with hints of ginger and allspice. Packed with energy, it has lovely texture and intense, honeyed stone fruit layers, finishing with great freshness.
The 2017 Cantegril has a slightly subdued, rather oaky bouquet that needs to be integrated during its élevage . The palate is viscous on the entry with notes of peach and tangerine, missing a little acidity on the back palate but there is commendable weight here. This will probably constitute a more early drinking Sauternes.
The 2017 Cantegril is airy and light on its feet. Citrus peel, white flowers and lightly tropical notes all open up nicely in the glass. Today, the 2017 comes across as a touch rustic and not totally put together. Perhaps aging will bring with it a touch of finesse that is slightly lacking at the moment.
