The 2017 Moulin Haut-Laroque offers good persistence, if not quite the finesse it showed from barrel, especially in the tannins, which are a bit firm. Sweet tobacco, incense, wild flowers, spice and red plum open up with time in the glass. Drink this pleasantly hearty Fronsac over the next handful of years. Tasted two times.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Moulin Haut-Laroque rocks up with open-knit plum preserves, blueberry pie and kirsch scents plus touches of truffles and pencil shavings. Medium-bodied, the palate is laden with juicy black fruits with a plush texture and wonderfully pure finish.
The 2017 Moulin Haut-Laroque has a simple cranberry and blackberry nose that is missing a little complexity but, at least, it is clean. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, showing more harmony than the aromatics, leading to a rounded mulberry-infused finish that does not outstay its welcome.
Another solid Fronsac as well as a strong vintage for the cuvee, the 2017 Chateau Moulin Haut-Laroque sports a ruby/plum hue to go with lots of mulled red and black fruits, baking chocolate, and dried herbs aromas and flavors. It's textured, medium-bodied, and balanced, and ideal for drinking over the coming 6-8 years.
