Tasting notes
The 2017 Canon Pécresse has good aromatic presence, but its hard to get past hard tannins and angular contours. The 2017 is especially unyielding today.

The 2017 Canon Pécresse has a potent peppermint aroma on the nose that occludes any sense of fruit profile of terroir expression. The palate is sweet and cloying, a vexing wine. Maybe because this was offered from a half bottle that it tastes this way?
The 2017 Canon Pécresse offers good depth and intensity. Dark red cherry, smoke, grilled herbs and menthol add quite a bit of character. This is an especially dark, somber wine, and yet it also has plenty of depth and overall persistence. If the tannins soften, the 2017 might merit a slightly more positive note.
The medium-bodied, charming, and fruit-forward 2017 Château Canon Pécresse offers up an attractive bouquet of violets, black fruits, leafy herbs, and a hit of tapenade. It’s a delicious, easygoing effort that will drink nicely in its youth.
