Tasting notes
The 2017 Raymond-Lafon is one of my picks from this era. This bottle actually takes its time to find its groove, but it has tremendous precision and mineralité . The palate is tensile from the start, but there is real concentration and purity here, with a vibrant, stem ginger and lemongrass-infused finish. Excellent.

Tasted blind. Pale gold colour. Full of sweet cereals, saffron and dried peach on the nose. The palate is succulent and fruity and spicy with ginger. Slightly warming in alcohol but a fine effort that finishes with strong notes of candied citrus peel. (TP)
The 2017 Raymond-Lafon is a celestial, beautifully perfumed Sauternes endowed with tremendous aromatic lift and a sense of weightless intensity that is hard to fully describe. Lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers and tangerine oil are some of the many aromas and flavors that grace the 2017. More than anything else though, readers should expect a Sauternes built on aromatic intensity and freshness more than richness. I loved it.
