2016 Nuits St Georges

(the ripest of these village wines from the Côte de Nuits, picked with 12.6% potential alcohol and chaptalized to 13%): Moderately saturated ruby-red. Distinctly darker on the nose than the Gevrey-Chambertin, offering scents of blackberry, violet and spices. At once juicy and sweet in the mouth, conveying a pliant texture and considerable delicacy to its lively savory flavors of dark berries and spices. Already showing an appealing personality, this captivating, subtly long Nuits-Saint-Georges finishes with ripe, nicely enrobed tannins that reach the front teeth. A terrific village wine in the making.
