Tasting notes
(just one and a half barrels made, from the estate's tiniest holding): Bright, dark red with ruby tones. Very pure, expressive aromas and flavors of black cherry, dark raspberry, licorice and violet. Boasts compelling creamy sweetness and sappiness on the front end but the wine's pungent minerality kicks in on the back, giving terrific lift to the suavely tannic, palate-staining finish. Combining the energy of the Suchots and the sophistication of the Aux Brûlées, this wine displays grand cru intensity and class.

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots was not touched by the frost this growing season and comprises the usual quantity, which is still only one-and-a-half barrels, sadly. It has a quite brilliant bouquet that really exploits the propitious nature of this premier cru with layers of complex, mineral-driven dark berry fruit, wilted rose petals and white flowers. The palate is marked by very fine tannin, perfectly judged acidity, fine energy with a smooth and sensual, satin-textured finish. Superb, although Beaux Monts is still Etienne's best premier cru in 2016.
