Tasting notes
(raised in concrete tanks for two years) Bright violet. A wild, complex bouquet evokes candied dark berries, licorice, leather, dark chocolate and violet, along with a powerful gamy overtone. Sweet and concentrated on the palate, offering smoke- and spice-tinged cassis, bitter cherry and smoked meat flavors firmed by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows surprising verve for its heft and finishes long and youthfully tannic, with resonating floral and game notes. Here's another wine that'll divide the room.

One of the gems in the vintage is the 2015 Vacqueyras les Genestes, which is 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and the rest a mix of permitted varieties, that’s brought up all in concrete tanks. This broad, sexy, full-bodied beauty offers terrific notes of ripe black cherries, mulled blackberries, violets and incense, with building tannin and a blockbuster finish. It will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and drink well for a decade.
