Tasting notes
The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Chaffots was marginally affected by hail this year. It offers a mixture of red and black fruit complemented by cassis and violet aromas. It is a little Chambolle-esque on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with the 70% stem addition lending a conspicuous spiciness and pepperiness, especially on the punchy finish. This is a wine that I would like to leave in bottle for three or four years. Very fine.

Just south of Monts Luisants, high up above the village on the long strip above Clos de la Roche. Thinner soils than a village wine. Very refined and fresh. Masses of fruit dominates the whole-bunch character (65%) that is a textural thing. Not at all skinny. Lovely stuff.
