The 2016 Fixin 1er Cru Clos de la Perrière includes 35% whole bunch fruit with 35% new oak. It has a clean and ripe, slightly loamy bouquet thanks to the whole bunch addition, fresh and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a sharp opening. This is quite an angular Fixin, perhaps missing the roundness and the blue fruit component that I always appreciate in a Fixin. It pulls up just a little short. Hopefully it will gain more cohesion once in bottle.

Lovely upfront primary red fruit here, more fragrant and immediate than many of the Bichot 2016s. Good persistence and balance on the palate too, and enough tannic grain to give shape without being intrusive. (RH)

Discreet aromas of pretty and very fresh earthy red currant, cherry and lavender can be found on the layered nose. There is excellent delineation and punch to the utterly delicious flavors that are not particularly dense but the precision and minerality of the finish makes this quite attractive nonetheless. In a word, lovely.
