Tasting notes
(almost a normal crop here, according to Charles van Canneyt): Bright medium red. Aromas of blackberry, licorice and crushed rock. Showing limited easy sweetness and flesh but captivating inner-mouth floral perfume and definition to its juicy flavors of dark berries and bitter chocolate. A pungent note of blood orange adds lift. A bit lean and tight in the early going--perhaps slightly hardened by the CO2 today--finishing with a firm dusting of tannins and noteworthy persistence.

The 2016 Vosne Romanee Villages was more backward on the nose compared to the Chambolle-Musigny, though it opens with aeration and evolves a pleasing pastille-like purity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple red cherry and strawberry fruit, touches of blood orange with a precise finish. Good potential here, crisp and direct.
